You can pursue full-time or part-time studies leading to Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees, or Doctorate degrees in various disciplines. General Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for any postgraduate program at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), you must have:
- A minimum of five credits, including English Language.
- Four additional relevant subjects at one or two sittings from WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or TCII (Faculty of Education only).

UNIZIK Postgraduate Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes:
The following may apply for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma Programs.
- Graduates from approved Universities who hold first degree classification with FCGPA of 1.51 and above on a 5point scale.
- Candidates from approved Polytechnic or Monotechnic who hold a Higher National Diploma with a minimum of Lower Credit.
Master’s Degree Programmes:
The following may apply for admission into Master’s Programmes.
- Graduates from approved Universities who hold the appropriate degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale or a minimum of 45% for universities that do not use FCGPA.
- For unclassified degrees, candidates are expected to have a minimum overall score of 60%.
- Holders of Postgraduate Diploma in the proposed field of study from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.00 and above (on a 5-point scale).
MPhil/PhD Programmes:
Graduates from approved Universities who hold master’s degree in the proposed field of study and under the advertised courses with an FCGPA of 3.20-3.49 (on a 5-point scale).
Doctor of Philosophy Programmes:
- Graduates from approved Universities who hold master’s degree in the proposed field of study with minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities that do not use the FCGPA.
- For PhD in Clinical Oncology, candidates are expected to have MBBS and MSc in related disciplines.

How to Apply for UNIZIK Postgraduate Admission 2024
The application for UNIZIK postgraduate programs is done online. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Complete the Online Application Form:
- Visit https://apply.cpgs.unizik.edu.ng.
- Ensure you have all your information ready (educational background, contact details, etc.).
- Fill out the application form accurately and click “Submit My Application” when finished.

Verify Your Email Address:
- Check your email inbox (including spam) for a message from UNIZIK.
- Click the link in the email to activate your account and note down your application number.

Login and Pay Application Fee:
- After account activation, enter your application number and email address to log in.
- Review the application details and proceed to pay the application fee online using Debit Card or Transfer.
- Choose the appropriate payment platform: Credo (local students) or Paystack (international students).
- Important: Do not navigate away from the payment page until redirected back to the application portal.

Complete Your Application:
- Once payment is confirmed (check your email for confirmation), continue filling out your application step-by-step.

Submit Application and Request Transcripts:
- After completing the final application, print the completed form and the Transcript Request Form.
- Send the Transcript Request Form (with any name changes noted) to your former institution to request your academic transcripts.

PhD applicants in submitting their forms shall upload a proposal of not more than five type-written pages that should include:
- Name of Applicant
- Proposed Department and Faculty
- Topic (not more than 18 words)
- Brief background of the Study
- Aim and Objectives/Purpose
- Methodology
- Expected Outcomes
- References
Sales of Form Commencement and End Date
- Sale of Form begins on the 28th of February, 2024 and ends on the 3rd of September, 2024.
- Submission of Form ends on 3rd September , 2024.
Transcript Submission:
- Applicants must submit their official transcripts to the Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies.
- Transcripts can be submitted in either hard copy or soft copy.
- Deadline for transcripts: September 9th, 2024
- Soft copies: Submit electronically to secdr_transcript.cpgs@unizik.edu.ng from your institution’s email address only.
Screening Test and Proposal Defense (PhD only):
- UNIZIK will invite shortlisted applicants for a screening test and proposal defense (if applicable).
- The specific dates for these assessments will be communicated to eligible applicants later.
PhD Proposal Requirements:
- PhD applicants must upload a research proposal as part of their online application form.
- The proposal should be no more than five typewritten pages.
